“I’m free on Saturday if you want to meet up for brunch?”, announced Ms. Tinymouse on Thursday…
“Want to try, Richmond Hill Cafe & Larder?”, it’ll be good!… And I agreed with the plus point of it having a discount from the Entertainment Card (Gold Section y’all)
Knowing that it would probably be overcrowded with regulars and “revellers” from the Election buzz, I called to make a booking, only to be told, on weekends we only accept bookings for groups of 8 or more…
Alrighty… so we showed up about 10 mins before the appointed time, and were told that there would be a 35-40min wait for a table… we waited… and waited…
When we were finally seated (after 45 minutes) and placed our orders… the drinks came.. and took up about three quarters of the table… voila!
(Impressive, I can see Des and Troy in the background!)
Budak Kampung (Country Boy) had RHCL muesli with sunflower seeds and sun-dried fruit $6.5 Rhubarb with rose geranium $7.7
Ms. Tinymouse had a delicious Corn and coriander fritters with smoked salmon, poached egg, spinach and RHCL Tomato & Capsicum Relish $18.5
The Boy stuck with the traditional Dench’s wholegrain with bacon, mushrooms and tomato $15 and a Giorgio’s spicy breakfast sausage (made in-house)$5
And I had the astoundingly simple yet delicious (I WANT SO MUCH MORE FOR WHAT I PAID) Baked beans – borlotti beans with tomato, ham hock, maple syrup, gratinated Taleggio cheese, basil pesto and grilled organic sourdough $19.5
For $19.50 I was hoping for at least a few pieces of that lovely sourdough…
Food was great (it was breakfast, I’d frown if they got it wrong)… but I wouldn’t have paid for what I paid if I didn’t have that offer with Entertainment Guide Book…
Will I return? Probably not… for that money spent, I rather go by Tusk on Chapel Street…

I also found them a little pricey and nothing super spectacular
I've enjoyed a few really good breakfasts there, but they are certainly pricey. The cheese room is fun, though :).
Oh no, what a shame you didn't get sourdough with it. It sounds like they could definitely work on their value quotient 🙁
I-Hua, was great meeting you today! Small world, you'll find that we might know a few ppl more than just Chong. In fact, I just met Chong last wk 😉 Keep in touch!!
