HellloOOoOoOOoOOooOOooooooooooo and Welcome to my 500th Post!!!!!!
I thought long and hard about what I would like to do to commemorate this significant milestone in my blogging career and could reach no solution.
I asked my fans and followers on Facebook and Twitter and although coming up with good suggestions (the most common being, “Bake a Cake”) I couldn’t settle on any one idea.
And then I had an “Eureka!” moment, one morning as I was getting ready for work.
Why don’t I blog, bake and commemorate my 500th blog post to raise awareness towards the Breast Cancer Awareness month?
I could still have fun celebrating this feat, and still be able to do some good!
November has long been associated with Movember and needs no introduction, but I bet not many people realize that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Having lost someone very dear to us recently to cancer (lungs), I cannot stressed but to say, please get yourself checked as soon as possible if you have the slightest inkling.
Cancer does not discriminate and will not choose to attack based on religion, beliefs, race, or virtue.
If it strikes, it strikes.
So I thought, I’d bake some lovely muffins, (Banana Muffins with pink cream cheese frosting to be exact), and get you to start checking your bits for any lumps, distortions or swelling.
Remember, this is Cancer we are dealing with, and even though it is breast cancer, again, it does not discriminate.

So whatever gender you are, follow the 5 steps outlined by the Breast Cancer Foundation in checking for abnormalities in your pectoral region.
To showcase that breast cancer and Cancer does not discriminate, I also baked a couple of different muffins 🙂
Part of the selection of muffins used in the above pictures contained Gluten-Free Apple Muffins using Pink Lady apples, Banana Muffins (as mentioned earlier) with and without pink cream cheese frosting.
Don’t forget that 24 October 2011 is Pink Ribbon Day and therefore, you should dress up in your brightest pink, arrange a morning tea, start donating and remember to pass the message on.
Remember that early detection saves lives, so start checking today!
Breast Cancer Facts:
- Did you know that nearly 1 in every 9 women in Australia are diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime?
- 9 out of 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer have no family history
- In Australia, one woman dies of breast cancer every four hours
- At this point, there are no ways to prevent breast cancer, hence early detection by checking (either yourself or via your doctor) is the best prevention
- Breast cancer checks are free!

Very coincidental that you blog about this. Mom started chemo a few weeks back, so she’s the 1 out of 9. I feel ashamed I didn’t even know October is breast cancer awareness month!
Btw love the really camp advertisement, men checking their own boobies? Oh my!
Oh I didn’t know! I do hope that she is all okay. Keep checking on her, chemo makes one tire out very easily.
Thanks for the reminder with your very important message! Happy 500th post, and I look forward to many more!
Thank you and welcome!
Very, very fitting post, I-Hua! Really glad you chose this over all our crazy ideas haha… And so happens I was eating a cupcake while reading this hehe… I sincerely hope all the women I know and in my family get checked too. Btw, congrats on the 500th post!! It’s really great that you’ve hit this milestone. But this is just the beginning, I’m sure! Exciting times ahead! =O
Oh good on you for having a cupcake! Please do pass this on to all your friends an family 🙂
Congrats on the 500th post! Disappointed that it’s not dedicated to me, but I SUPPOSE it’s for a good cause so that’s okay. 😉 And those guys can check me out any day. HAHAHA.

AND OMG. I WAS DYING WATCHING THAT VIDEO. OMG. Thank you for sharing so much! 😀 😀
HAHAHA… I showed a colleague of mine today the video and we were both so engrossed and didn’t hear the loud tapping on the window. It was my GM peeking through and frowning at us and laughing at our shock! Hahahaha
Congrats on your 500th post 🙂 and well done for spreading awareness. Its been in my family so its very important to get tested, dont wait until you’re 40, it can hit young. Check, check, check!
Thank you!! Yes, it can strike anytime, anywhere to anyone 🙁
Thank you, I-Hua. Not many of us think to take opportunities like this to think of others (I’m definitely guilty of using my blogiversary to simply talk about how much I love blogging). You’re inspirational, and while I haven’t talked publicly of why this means so much to me, you know. Hugs.
You are very welcome. BIG HUGS back at you 🙂 Awww *shucks*
“In Australia, one woman dies of breast cancer every four hours.” This is shocking!!
Thanks for sharing the message and of course your lovely cupcakes and muffins! =)
It is!! Thanks very much 🙂
Congratulations on hitting your 500th post milestone. That is certainly a commitment these days, and I hope someday to get my own blog up to that many posts. But until I can get rid of some distractions (including about thinking about boobies… not like I wasn’t already), I don’t think that it will be a realistic goal for me.
Fabulous! Go Boobies!! Hahahaha… Thanks very much 🙂
Celebration AND good deeds? You’re a regular New York socialite 😉 Congratulations, babe!!
Really? If you call me Paris I will smack you!
