So as part of our invitation to the Living Grand event at Grand Hyatt Melbourne recently, we were also invited to stay as guests at one of their rooms for the night.

Unbeknown to The Boy, I had arranged for this to be a surprise.

I left him little clues as the days went by. The plan almost came to ruination when he forgot to take the day off on his birthday as planned. I may or may not have thrown a slight tantrum at him 😛

The night before the Living Grand event, I left him a note on his keyboard indicating that he would have to pack an overnight bag.

On the morning of the event, whilst at work, I sent him a vague text indicating that all he would have to do upon arrival at the Grand Hyatt hotel was to drive right up to the porte-cochère and give his keys over to the valet.

Once he did that, I went down to the lobby to greet the grinning Birthday Boy.

Surprise success! Little did I realise that I myself would be in for a surprise with the eventful Living Grand party that night.

As a treat, Grand Hyatt Melbourne had put us up in the Grand Suite King for the night up on the 27th floor. Upon arrival, as I had checked-in first to prepare for the surprise, Craig Buckley, Guest Relations Manager greeted me with a bouquet of roses at the lobby before escorting me up to our suite for the night.

In the room, greeting me was a stunning view of Melbourne CBD as I have never seen it before.

A stunning 180 degrees birds eye view of the Yarra River bend, Botanical Gardens, and CBD, the view certainly took my breath away.

The large 80-sq metre suite was certainly a very luxurious space to relax and spend a romantic staycation in.

On the glass table in the living area, discreetly presented, a welcome dessert of Meringue Mushrooms and Chocolate Soil.

I loved the whole idea of it. Very cute.

And if you’re familiar with the Grand Hyatt and Park Hyatt chains, then you will be familiar with the #InAHyattWorld service they offer to their guests.

The super comfy bed with its Egyptian linen. I did not want to leave its cocoon of warmth embrace.

We also managed to catch the beautiful night view of Melbourne and The Boy managed to catch the last fires from Crown Casino across the river as the clock chimed 12.

After an eventful night at the hotel, it was definitely a relieve to know that all we had to do to get a good night’s rest in luxury was to take the lift up to our suite.

It was the best feeling ever.

I highly recommend booking a room at the Grand Hyatt Melbourne should you have any events in the future and you can’t be bothered travelling home. It will be an amazing treat for New Year’s Eve and a spectacular spot to view the fireworks. Stay and reward yourself with some luxury!

Waking up the next morning, we took our time before going up to the Grand Club Lounge for our complimentary continental breakfast. Dining on the 31st floor with such breath-taking views early in the morning is definitely worth the experience. We were happy with the selection of toasts, cereals and cold meats and cheeses for our morning meal.

Besides the daily complimentary breakfast available to guests booking rooms with Grand Club Lounge access, the area also provides:

  • All-day refreshments
  • Evening drinks with canapés (6pm – 8pm)
  • Wireless Internet within lounge
  • Exclusive meeting rooms available on request

If you so wish to have a full breakfast, you will be able to go down at Collins Kitchen for an additional charge.

Upon returning to the room after our breakfast at the Grand Club Lounge, we walked in to find a little gift set aside the work desk in the living area.

grandHyatt_13

A birthday greeting from the guest relations team and a box of hand-crafted macarons for the Birthday Boy!

That personal touch certainly sealed the weekend with a kiss for us.
